Our Story of Gathering Around the Table
Joshua, a New Yorker, has spent the past ten years bridging American and Japanese cultures through his marriage to his wife, Naoko. Some of his favorite memories are cold winter nights in Japan gathered around his wife’s grandmother’s kotatsu, feeling the gentle warmth and closeness it created. Together with co-founders Conor and So, Kinship is on a mission to expand kotatsu culture that has long been limited to Japan. Instead of just importing tables, Kinship is about reimagining and elevating kotatsu for modern North American homes.
